When I have the time…
I love building things, but I do not have enough time to do that and quite frankly I do not have the best conditions to do that at the moment. So, in the meantime (and as a form of procrastination) I’ve been collecting projects that it could be fun to build once I have the time. Most of them came from the MAKE magazine’s blog, which is a worthwhile space if you are interested in this kind of projects (but it is quite overwhelming in terms of volumes).
So, here are the DIY projects that I liked. It is sort of repository for myself and also for anybody who has an interest. Please feel free to suggest more ideas.
and a larger and rather different variation
- The Frustromantic Box
- R/C plane from trash (lacking detailed instructions)
I will stop here for now… more may follow later :)

I have been recently looking at reprap.
They are trying to build a 3D printer that can print itself. So far they have a 3D printer that prints most of its plastic parts.
If someone has $550 to spare they can build one already.
Do you mean, you can buy one for $550?
Oh you should talk to Erik, he is all about building things. Right now he is all about building kites.
With pleasure!
We actually saw some really neat, remote controlled kites in Singapore (have not uploaded those pictures yet).
Awesome. Thanks for sharing. I tried building that Lego box from the link you shared on Twitter. Now I have a great internet router with lego casing :). It’s not as neat as I wanted it to be but it works. Nobody believes that it is built with Lego.
Thanks again.
Thanks!
And I am really glad to hear that you have actually built that router! Can you send me a picture of it, please? Thanks!
