Hi, I’m from Russia, but I like Japaneses food. Uramaki rolls are my favourie.
Rice making: take 200 gr of sushi rice (or any round kernel rice), wash it thoroughly several times, put it into the saucepan and add 270 gr of water. Keep boiling (with the lid on), till the rice has absorbed all the water. Keep the rice in the saucepan under the lid for 15 min.
Make a sauce, warm it up and pour it into the rice (sauce: 2 spoons of rice or apple vinegar, 3 teaspoons of sugar, 1 teaspoon of salt).
Place the rolling matt on the flat surface,

lay the cling film on it,then put slices of salmon (not very salty)

and moisten your fingers in a bowl of water, then spread a thin layer of rice, pressing it down firmly,

then put the nori and the filling. (For the filling you can use different ingredients to your taste. Here we use strips of cucumber and soft cheese, you can also use avocado strips, crab meat, roe, prawns….)

Roll it to make a cylindrical shape, tuck in the edge of the nori with your fingers to make a complete roll, press the roll gently,

put it into the fridge for some minutes,

slice it up with a sharp knife.

Done.
Bon appetit!

Thank you so much for sharing! We also like making sushi, but have never tried uramaki yet.
We did hear quite a lot of stories about the various aspects of sushi, starting from its origins as a way to preserve fish to various ways to wash the rice 30 times or something liked that. Any stories on your side?
